So the plan was to get to Huntingburg, Indiana on Thursday, June 30. I ended up taking off and getting out of KC at about noon. I climbed up to 9,500 feet to take advantage of clear & smooth skies, and to get at least somewhat cooler temperatures. It ended up taking me about 150 minutes wheels up to wheels down. I got into Huntingburg 3:30 local time, fueled up the plane, got it parked, and met my older brother who was driving up from Arkansas. We then headed into Jasper to meet his wife and family at her parents house where we're staying for the next couple nights.
THE TRIP - Day 1

Looking North at Lake Jacomo on the climb out from
Lees Summit Municipal. Winds were out of the Southwest on this day so
I took off runway 18 to the south and immediately turned left to the
east and began a stable climb. Then I had a second to breath and I
snapped this pic of Lake Jacomo with Blue Springs Lake in the background.

Lunchtime.

Though not required to be on oxygen (I don't legally need it unless I'm above 12,500 feet) It's good to have when I'm up high (9,500' above sea level) especially when it's warm and the air is thin.

This is a picture taken on my phone of my yoke-mounted
table that I use for situational awareness / navigation. The green
arrows are other airborn "targets" or aircraft showing up
on my ADSB receiver. The skies over the St. Louis metro area were
busy this afternoon. Phew!

The Spirit Of St. Louis airport on the west side of
the metro.

Downtown St Louis. Barge traffiic was also high on
this day. It was pretty peacful up at 9,500' and pretty smooth.
The flight ended up taking just under 2 ½ hours.

The Flightaware.com recorded path for my trip from
Lees Summit to KHNB.

Once there, I got some fuel so I'd be ready for our
flight to Cleveland on Friday.

All tied down and covered up at the Huntingburg,
Indiana airport (KHNB).

Oh, and whenever I got here there was a surprise
package waiting for me from my girlfriend with TWO badass, custom
Mooney tshirts that she had made. She's the best!

^ Kam and I this past winter.

After a nice dinner and catching up, we went for a
couple-mile walk around a park nearby. After that, some late-evening
flight planning and weather-checking for the next day and I'm posting
this to the internet around midnight EST. Tomorrow we're going to be
up around 7am, the airport by 8, and hopefully wheels up around 8:30.
That should put us in Cleveland around 10:30 and at the Rock &
Roll Hall of Fame around 11am.
Woo hoo!
