THE TRIP - Day 1
Sunday, August 28th
So the plan was to leave on Sunday evening, August 28, 2022. There was a Royals baseball game that afternoon that I worked. I thought I'd be out of there around 4pm but the game went long, I didn't get home until about 5:40, and then Kam got held up a bit with stuff before we could make it to the airport.
We didn't pull into Lees Summit airport until 8:40pm.

^ Preflight went quick at KLXT, Lees Summit Municipal.
Here I'm calculating the weight and balance on my phone.

All pulled out of the hangar and ready to fire up.
Anyhow, long story short -- we didn't take off until
about 9:45. It was pretty clear for the flight but dark as heck - new
moon tonight. It made for some pretty city lights getting out of
Kansas City. However, once we were out of town you couldn't see a
thing and our cameras (even Kam's iPhone) were worthless.

Spooky.

We split some rain cells (I didn't see one drop the
entire flight).

On our way out of the KC area, we crossed over Kansas
before hitting Central Nebraska and clipped Colorado before getting
to Kimball, Nebraska.

After about 3½ hours in total darkness, we got to Kimball Municipal Airport where we're staying for the evening.

Crashing at the FBO office for free? I think so.
