DAY 4
Wednesday, August 31st

We got up on Wednesday morning thinking that we'd like some more time to explore Monterey, so I extended our room another day and everything will get bumped back a day. Originally we were going to head to LA on this day, but I talked to my buddy Chuck in LA and he said we just should plan on heading to LA on Thursday.

We left our hotel around 11ish in the morning and left for McWay Falls on the coast.

This was our second drive down the Pacific Coast Highway in two days and it did not disappoint.

Theres a small parking lot just off the highway and a short trail down to the lookout point at McWay Falls.

The trail isn't long at all, but it was good because it gave us more time to soak it all in.

^ We did a little exploring off the trail and found some cool spots.

Kamera even packed us sack lunches for the walk.

It was amazing and so pretty. Places like this make all the cost and planning for these trips worth it.

We left McWay falls around 3pm and headed back North. Kam is a sweetheart and offered to drive so I could enjoy the scenery, and then she suggested that I sit in the back so I could be on the driver's side and have a better view (facing West toward the coast). Seemed reasonable, so I complied...and then she started playing Rise Against:

I always get confused on the same line in this song.

It was roughly an hour drive, and once almost back to the hotel we thought it would be fun to stop at a beach. Monastery Beach.

We'll rest well tonight. It was relaxing to have a full day with no flights to plan, execute, or log. We'll wait for the fog to clear tomorrow morning and depart Monterey for Whiteman Airport in the San Fernando Valley. There I'll meet up with my good friend Chuck.
