Day 5
Thursday, September 1st
First off, we've gotta stick around Monterey Bay for a little bit this morning and wait for the fog to clear. Fun....
It's all good though. I wanted to update these trip webpages, and Kamera had some work to do.
So because I'm cheap, I returned the car last night to save a hundred bucks and not be charged another day. The distance between the airport and the hotel wasn't bad, so we just walked back to the hotel and planned to walk again back to the airport after checking out at 11am.
We got to the airport, loaded the plane, got topped off, did the preflight, and were taxiing for takeoff around 12:30.

We got held up a bit waiting to depart behind a few
jets and a bunch of arrivals this morning, but were off the ground at
about 1pm.

Ocean Fog.
This leg of the flight was another gorgeous one. Lots
of terrain, some peeks at the ocean, and then ending with an approach
into the LA area in busy airspace and a kinda bouncy landing.

We had to weave around some restricted areas and terrain, but back on the ground at Whiteman airport in LA at 2:50pm.
Chuck picked us up and we got to spend all evening catching up in his great house with gorgeous views here in California.

Catching up with Chuck was really good for me and I
cherish these old friends that I still keep in touch with that have
known me from my days in Freestyle Motocross.
As for this coming weekend:
So it's looking like I'm
gonna go to the FOX National at Pala on Saturday. It's the final race
of the season, and the series is within like one or two points
between the points leaders, Eli Tomac and Chase Sexton. I know most
of my friends don't care about this but it's pretty historic and it
will be epic for me to have the memory of getting there. As of now,
the only hurdle will be finding a rental car / ride to the track from
the French Valley Airport near Temecula, and then where we're staying
on Saturday night.
